Message from the President
As the 22nd president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Lambda Tau Omega Chapter, I am pleased to welcome you to our website. Chartered in 1978, 18 forward-thinking women laid the foundation for the work to be done throughout the Far South Suburban area of Chicago for the past 46 years. Our efforts have included, but are not limited to, partnering with social service agencies, awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships to college-bound youngsters, writing grants to provide eyeglasses for children, preparing and distributing holiday food baskets and coats, providing workshops for the community on heart health and Alzheimer’s disease awareness, launching voter registration campaigns, mentoring many young men and women, providing headwraps to cancer patients, addressing childhood hunger, and much more. Over the years, our chapter has grown from the original 18 Charter members to a roster of 284 dynamic women committed to continuing the mission of the international sorority, to provide “Service to All Mankind.” We welcome the support of businesses and corporations interested in sponsoring and partnering with us to continue the important work to be done in the community.
